Why should I consult a Sports Physiotherapist and what does treatment involve?

Physiotherapy can incorporate all different types of treatment depending on your diagnosis. Some of the common treatment techniques we use include: manipulation/mobilisations of joints, soft tissue work, patient education, home exercise programmes and biomechanical analysis, exercise programming, stretching and strengthening exercise,  and dry needling.

Following your initial assessment, the physiotherapist will be able to give you a better idea of what treatment options will be used for your condition/injury.

What shall I wear at my visit for Physio and massage therapy?

A manual therapy session will likely need direct access to the legs, arms or back. For your comfort, you may bring your own shorts, t-shirt or sportswear top to change in. We also provide disposable shorts and towels for coverage needed. It is also recommended to wear sports shoes or socks, if you are likely to visit the rehab studio for an assessment or session.

Can I treat different issues in the same session?

It is ideal to dedicate a session per area that needs focus, each injury may need its own recovery program. There also may be links between different injuries or areas in pain, that will work simultaneously in repair. The initial assessment will help give you the scope of the treatment plan needed.

Should I go for physiotherapy or massage therapy?

We recommend seeing a physiotherapist first for any pain symptoms you are experiencing. From there we will recommend what courses of massage therapy are right for you, in which they will inform our expert therapists on target areas you need worked on. These treatments complement one another very well, giving the best results.
